At the NI Offshore Measurement Summit 2014, industry experts presented on the latest measurement technologies for the oil & gas and renewable industries. The summit focused on rapid development with reconfigurable off-the-shelf platforms to gain a competitive advantage by focusing on IP development, productivity and reducing time-to-market. The three themes covered technologies and application case studies: PC-Based Measurements, Custom Embedded Development with COTS Platforms and Asset Condition Monitoring.

Rodrigue Akkari, LabVIEW Developer, Applied Concepts in Data Acquisition Ltd

Rodrigue has over 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, working on a variety of monitoring and control applications. In 2008, he successfully headed the design and development of a Riser Management System for use in deepwater drillships. He is currently the owner and LabVIEW Developer at Acodaq Ltd.

Session Title: Designing Control Software for the British Geological Survey Subsea Drill

Martin Griffiths, Senior Systems Engineer, Metis Automation

Martin is a Charted Engineer and Certified LabVIEW developer who has been developing measurement and control solutions using LabVIEW for 5 years. He has worked on ROV Drill since 2011 developing and improving system performance, and travelled to Japan on drilling operations with the ROV Drill team.

Session Title: Subsea ROV Drill Control for Canyon Offshore using CompactRIO

Tore Magne Skar, Technology Manager, Pipeline and Subsea Inspection, Halfwave

Mr. Skar was project manager on the development of the ART ScanTM In-Line Inspection tool from the start in 2007 until August 2012. Mr. Skar has a background in physics, acoustics and transducer technology, and has more than 20 years of experience with transducer design and manufacturing, acoustics and acoustical measurement systems.

Anders Meister, Director, CIM Industrial Systems A/S

Anders Meister has over 12 years of experience in the Test and Measurement Industry, working on a different customized solutions for monitoring and control in the Energy Segment. From standalone logger solutions to tightly synchronised distributed systems - offshore, under ground, in the air – all leading up to the one key thing – capturing valid data.

Frederic Perdrix, Houlder

Frederic Perdrix brings a wealth of Naval Architecture and Engineering knowledge and expertise to all of Houlder’s projects. He is a designer and engineer with over twenty years of experience being accountable for multi-disciplinary teams working on a wide range of asset new build, upgrade and conversion projects.

Nick Ward, Senior Product Manager, Predictive Equipment Health Management, Rolls-Royce, Controls and Data Services

Nick Ward has worked in Rolls-Royce for 25 years in the aerospace and industrial sectors, covering civil and defense aviation, power generation and transport. Nick is currently Senior Product Manager for the Predictive Equipment Health Management range of products and services at OSyS, part of the Rolls-Royce Group.

Ian Bell, Engineering Group Leader, NI UK and Ireland

Ian Bell leads a UK-based team of engineers who work with customers, sales, marketing and R&D to apply National Instruments platforms and products to solve a diverse range of test, measurement and control challenges. His personal field of expertise is in the application of the NI-RIO Platform to  industrial and embedded applications.

Vidar Gronas, European Energy Segment Manager, NI

Vidar has a degree from UMIST in Computation from 1994. He has held different support and sales positions in Norway and the US. Branch Manager in Norway since 2000 and Energy Segment Manager Europe from July 2011.
Session Title:  How to Process Data and Perform Analysis for Condition Monitoring

Tristan Jones, Regional Marketing Engineer - Embedded & Industrial Systems, NI UK & Ireland

Tristan has worked in the measurement and automation industry for more than 10 years and currently leads the technical strategy and execution of marketing operations for embedded and industrial systems in the UK and Ireland. In this role he works with engineers to solve challenges in the development of intelligent control and monitoring systems for industrial and embedded applications.

Daniel Thomas, Field Sales Engineer - Scotland and North East England National Instruments UK & Ireland

Daniel joined the Engineering Leadership programme at NI as an Applications Engineer in 2011.
Once he had furthered his product knowledge and gained customer application experience,
he moved into a Field Sales Engineer role. His role is to work with customers to help drive their success and proficiency with NI products.
