On-site & Campus Events
As technology advances, so does instrumentation capability. National Instruments regularly holds seminars around the country. These seminars are designed to keep you abreast of the latest technologies and trends in measurement and automation. The material is presented either lecture-style or in a hands-on format.
An Introduction to NI LabVIEW and Data Acquisition
If you have heard of LabVIEW before but have not had a chance to learn more about it, this is a great opportunity to enter a growing community of technical professionals who have adopted LabVIEW as their chosen system development platform. Or, if you have used LabVIEW in the past but are looking for a refresher course, this is a great way to catch up on the latest features while working though exercises designed to reinforce the LabVIEW essentials. During this 3 hour workshop you will be introduced to the LabVIEW graphical programming environment, perform data acquisition with the latest USB hardware, and implement LabVIEW control applications.
In this section you will learn how to:
- Use NI CompactDAQ to take temperature measurements, control analogue output and drive digital I/O lines
- Communicate with benchtop instruments using LabVIEW instrument drivers
- Choose the best LabVIEW structures for adding decision making into your applications
- Design a great user interface
- Build a control application with analogue output voltages while making measurements
- Add analysis to your LabVIEW application
NI Embedded Design Seminar with NI CompactRIO
See how FPGA-based COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) hardware, combined with LabVIEW graphical embedded development tools, can reduce development time, lowering the overall cost of embedded system design. Discover first-hand how to design, prototype and deploy embedded systems more productively, and explore leading-edge control design tools to improve your design efficiency. Learn simple techniques that can be applied to perform rapid control prototyping (RCP) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation.
In this seminar, you will: See how you can use LabVIEW to design embedded systems with FPGAs (field-programmable gate arrays), real-time operating systems and industrial I/O Explore best practices for transferring data between FPGA hardware and a real-time controller for control or data-logging applications Explore LabVIEW FPGA for motion control, custom digital communication, and system timing and synchronisation applications
NI Automated Test Seminar with TestStand
Develop your automated test and validation systems faster with NI TestStand, the powerful ready-to-run test management environment. You can use NI TestStand to develop, manage, and execute test sequences written in any programming language as well as to facilitate integration with enterprise systems. Learn how to develop an automated test system from start to finish by exploring the NI TestStand test management software to quickly add sequencing, flow control, multithreading, and reporting to your measurements and tests.
In this seminar, you will: Learn the fundamentals of NI software including NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, and NI Switch Executive Develop your own test sequence for simulated devices under test Discover new techniques for developing next-generation modular test system with PXI by simulating PXI modular instrumentation Understand how to improve the flexibility and time to market of your test systems using your existing equipment
The NI electronics education platform is a unique combination of tools including NI Multisim schematic capture and SPICE simulation software, the NI ELVIS prototyping platform, NI LabVIEW, and NI LabVIEW SignalExpress interactive measurement software. The NI electronics education platform is an end-to-end toolchain that promotes interactive learning through simulation and virtual instrumentation to bridge the gap between theory and real-life circuit behavior. Gain hands on experience of this complete platform by rapidly developing applications on the latest NI ELVIS II work station.
In this seminar, you will: Experience rapid circuit design using the NI Multisim Circuit Design environment Take your designed circuit and perform detailed SPICE analysis with a broad range of virtual instruments Implement signal processing techniques including Anti-aliasing and FFTs Virtually prototype your designed circuit on a simulated breadboard Measure the behaviour of a physical replica circuit on the ELVIS II workstation Compare and contrast the virtual and physical circuit behaviours Perform all of these techniques in the same software environments, Multisim and LabVIEW
DIAdem is software for managing, analysing, and reporting data collected during data acquisition and/or generated during simulations. DIAdem is designed to help you make informed decisions and meet the demands of today’s testing environments, which require quick access to large volumes of scattered data, consistent reporting, and data visualisation.
This hands on session provides a unique opportunity to explore the DIAdem environment and learn methods to document test data using the DIAdem technical data management (TDM) model. Also discover how to use the new TDM Streaming API to save structured data and explore hidden features for mining your test data. In this seminar, you will: Write well-documented test data files with the new TDM Streaming VIs in LabVIEW Search and mine your data to find trends and correlations Analyse your data and create professional reports to share with others
NI frequently plans instruction-led courses at the NI office, but we can also plan and execute a training course at your facility, focused on your needs. We can train entire groups at the same time, ensuring coordinated progress toward your goals. Whether a single course for a small group or extensive training for your entire engineering organisation, NI on-site training educates more employees at a lower cost and makes a significant and immediate impact on productivity.
